When : Summer 2011 Scope: Livemeeting is being phased out by the end of 2011. Replacement alternative is Lync 2010. Instalation includes intergrating Lync plateform into Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller and Exchange 2010 features.

ReplyDeleteWill need to get a SANS UCC certificate for Front End & Edge server. Remember these are not normal certificates. We need a unified communication certificate. Thier's only a few companies that carry this. I when't with Digcert.http://www.digicert.com/. Purchased the 4 pack for 1 year and 1 additional for 39.00.
ReplyDeleteI usually like to use 3rd party brand certificates instead of in-house. Users like to see your being validaded by other than yourself.

ReplyDeleteInstalled Lync Front Ed Server. You need to make sure all requirements are enabled before installing. Used built in SQL server from deployment package. After install created new topology from Topology Builder. Front End server creates 2 websites. One accepts 80/443 (internal use) & 8080/4443 (Externally using Reverse Proxy)
ReplyDeleteTopology Builder creates 2 sites for meeting. Creates https://meet.company.com that takes you to the meeting site. Afterwards the meet.com redirects you to shared FQDN site webcast.company.com. When all is done, you need to "Publish the Topology.
ReplyDeleteA this point you run the Lync 2010 Deployment wizard. Run thru step 1, Install local configuration file. Then Step 2 Setup lync components. Final step is to create certificate quest for websites. Certificates need to be SANS. Only 3-4 companies provide this. Got mines from http://www.digicert.com.

ReplyDeleteSince we are going to use are own Lync IM for our company. We need to add a Edge pool to the mix. Ive got a Dell quad processor server with 8Gb ram. I will add a additional Windows Hyper-V server on this unit. Most installs go this way. Defining the new Edge pool is pretty straight forward, but throws you off is if you don't have a reverse proxy( 1 more server or device). Dont forget we need another set of certificates for this server.
ReplyDeleteWhen your ready to move over your IM service or request a new one, it takes about 5 days to provision. Remember, Yahoo will not IM with this. You only get MSN & AOL. Need to request provisioning with yahoo direct.
ReplyDeleteWe have some vendors who are NOT AD users but use are services. I set-up the Lync Server 2010 Web Scheduler.Basically is a GUI you download and then you modify SMTP settings on the IIS site. Remember, this doesn't interact with regular schedules or user invites.
